Windsurfing is a coastal surface water sport. It consists of a board and sail. France has seen the fastest growth in windsurfing in all of Europe. Windsurfing is becoming increasingly popular worldwide with competitions being hosted and more and more members trying out this trendy new water sport on the French coast. A windsurfing culture is gradually appearing with its own lifestyle. Enthusiasts would say that windsurfing is more than a sport; it’s a state of mind that connects mankind to nature.
The sea may be a space for freedom but users must be respectful and follow precise rules: Find out more about weather conditions, check your equipment carefully, keep to designated channels, wear a lifejacket and reflective armband, avoid surfing alone and never detach yourself from your board as you’ll be harder to spot if you’re separated from it. Required equipment: windsurf board, sail, mast, wishbone, ropes, hand paddles, rudders, cover to make it easier to transport.
